May Bank Holiday

/ Friday, 4 May 2012 /
So this weekend is a much needed bank holiday, where we'll to spend the weekend pretending it's warm and summery when we should really admit defeat and curl up with a good book watching the rain. Now if only we had this library to keep us amused...

Victoria Baths Free Photography Lesson

/ Thursday, 3 May 2012 /
This Sunday at Manchester's Victoria Baths, photographer Aidan O'Rourke will be giving free photography tutorials to anyone who drops by. The beautiful Grade II listed Baths were first opened in 1906 and were operational for 86 years until their closure and subsequently fell into disrepair. Thankfully fundraisers managed to save and restore the building opening it back up to the public in 2006 and is now host to tours, events and used as a filming location.

What better way to celebrate the beautiful interiors and the extra day off than having a photography lesson to capture some of the original interior features, and helping to contribute towards the future of this piece of history.

For more information about Sunday's event and all upcoming events visit the Victoria Baths site.

The Day We Saw the Queen

/ Friday, 23 March 2012 /
I popped down to MediaCity to see the Queen arrive today. A sunny day, great crowd and a smiley Queen made it a lovely occasion. Plus as I walked back on my own the Queens car slowly came past and both her and Phillip waved back at me! Very cool.

BelaBela Bubble Lights UK Premier

/ Tuesday, 31 January 2012 /

Back in September we took a trip down to the annual London Design festival, and our favourite event TENT did not disappoint. With a mix of brand new designers and revitalized classics such as the much loved Ercol, the event is not only to see the next year ahead in design but to meet the designers. Lucky for us were we to stumble upon the BelaBela stand hosted by Slovenian textile and fashion designers Jana Mršnik and Vesna Štih, showing a beautiful array of sea anemone like lights which caused us to stare and stroke them for far too long!

The upshot of this episode of mesmerized awe meant that we had the oppourtunity to meet the lovely Jana Mršnik and witter on about how much we loved the lights. With a quick demonstration on how they worked and the versatility of the product we were sold, and spent the rest of the day planning imaginary projects we could use them in.

We didn't need to wait long as the oppourtunity arose the following month at a snow themed pop up bar. Luckily the client was an enthusiastic as us to use these wonderful creations and we secured the UK premiere of the BelaBela Bubble lights.

Bubble Lights by BelaBela - made from recycled polypropylene are hand assembled to create beautiful fluffy effect. Our  bubble lights traveled all the way from Slovenia, but for a chance to buy them from somewhere closer to home your could try UK stockist Room39 in London.

Feeling Christmas at Home Sweet Home

/ Tuesday, 6 December 2011 /

We've taken to frequenting Home Sweet Home on Tib Street, Norther Quarter in Manchester for our meetings of late. With it's never ending array of amazing foodstuffs (including the famous cheeseburger toastie!) and even more amazing milkshakes (the cake batter based one being our favourite) and its late opening times we think we might start renting a table for all our meetings!

Now, must dash, there's a milkshake with my name on it...
